Buttock augmentation, or gluteal augmentation surgery, is sometimes commonly referred to as a Brazilian butt lift (when performed with fat transfer) and involves using implants or fat grafting, or sometimes a combination of both, to increase the size of your buttocks.
Buttock augmentation with your own fat is yet another approach to add fullness, projection and shape to the under projected or flat buttock area. Also known as the Brazilian butt lift, this procedure involves a selective "gentle" liposuction technique, harvesting fat from those areas around the buttocks that tend to hide a more desirable shape and then transferring the fat into the proper areas of the buttocks in multiple layers. Harvesting the excess fat from the sides, above, below, and around the buttocks first enhances the curves and projection prior to the micro fat transfer and makes for an even more shapely derriere. Liposculpture and fat harvesting for buttock augmentation can use excess fat from numerous other areas including the abdomen, back, hips, waist, thighs, knees, and arms as needed. Many women find an imbalance between the size of their breasts in front and an under projected or flat buttocks in back. The Brazilian butt lift can fill up deflated tushes or simply enlarge the buttocks for those who desire. Fat augmentation of the buttocks has become the preferred choice for gluteal enhancement due to a lower complication rate and much easier recovery. Using your own body fat is very appealing as there is no implant, no chance of rejection, and no chance of capsular contracture, and no chance of "slipping" or shifting out of proper position.
First, fat is liposuctioned from the preselected areas around the buttocks, such as the lower back—directly above the butt—the stomach, and the thighs. Just doing this makes the buttocks look more contoured and makes your lower body more attractive.
The fat collected from these donor sites is carefully processed and purified. Dr. Simmonds evaluates the fat and selects only the best fat cells to be reinjected into the buttocks, using special instruments called cannulas. In most cases, Dr. Simmonds will perform liposuction on at least two donor areas of your body to ensure that enough high-quality fat cells are collected. Dr Simmonds places small injections of fat into various areas of the buttocks, and at different depths, to ensure you achieve the highest natural result possible. For most patients, a Brazilian Butt Lift requires hundreds of microinjections, and using proper methods for injecting the fat is essential to achieving a balanced, natural, smooth appearance of the buttocks.
What is the difference between a Brazilian Buttock Lift and butt implants?
Butt implants are silicone devices that are surgically placed into the buttocks to achieve the patient's desired shape, while a buttock lift uses injections of the patient's own body fat to achieve their desired shape. It is much easier to achieve a more natural look and feel using the natural fat than it is using the artificial implants. Also, by using the patient's own fat cells to enhance their buttocks, a Brazillian Buttock Lift may also have a decreased likelihood of infection and allow the patient a shorter, quicker recovery.
How long does it take to recover from a Brazilian Butt Lift?
The recovery time for a Brazilian Butt Lift varies from patient to patient, but it is not uncommon for patients whose jobs are not highly active to return to work within a few days. Within three to four weeks, many patients resume moderate to full activity levels, though the recovery time may be longer for certain patients.
Who is a candidate for a Brazilian Butt Lift?
This procedure is an ideal option for anyone looking to raise or improve the contours of their rump. People who desire to supercharge their self-confidence and feel attractive, regardless of the clothes they are wearing (or if they are wearing none at all), can enjoy the benefits that a Brazilian Butt Lift offers.
Women considering a butt lift should have realistic expectations about the outcomes, as they should with any surgical procedure, and they should enjoy good health overall and have a healthy, comfortable weight. Patients who are at or near their ideal weight will achieve the best outcomes, and following their body contouring surgery, they will have an easier time keeping their weight steady.

Abdominoplasty commonly known as a tummy tuck, is one of the fastest growing elective surgeries in the last ten years. Even though you may be close to your ideal weight, the extra skin and loosened muscles my still give you that “pot belly” appearance. Diet and exercise may reduce excess fat but the skin elasticity prevents that flat tighter appearance. It can even affect the proper fit of your clothes.
Several patients have this procedure when they have excess or loose sagging skin, or when their stomach muscles have weakened with pregnancy, aging or even excessive weight loss. If this sounds familiar, a tummy tuck may be a good choice for you. Each year thousands of men and women have an abdominoplasty and experience no major complications.
Carefully following Dr. Simmond’s instructions before and after surgery minimize such risks. All medical conditions will be discussed, past and present medications and nutritional supplements will be reviewed. Dr Simmonds requires an EKG (depending on age and health) and lab work prior to surgery. As with any surgery, Dr. Simmond’s will review risks and benefits with you.
The tummy tuck procedure is done under general anesthesia, which takes about 2 1/2 hours. The incision is just above the pubic hairline and is hipbone to hipbone in length and generally takes about a year to fade. The first few days to a week you will walk hunched over because of the muscle tightening. Most of your discomfort can be controlled with pain medications prescribed by Dr. Simmonds.
You will need a special ordered compression garment to be worn for six weeks . Full recovery takes about 6 months, however most patients may resume many of their normal activities within two weeks. Some of the activities you will need to restrict for 6 weeks are exercise, strenuous work, heavy lifting and swimming. Direct exposure to sunlight on the scars should be avoided for 6 months and will cause the scars to darken. Dr Simmonds recommends no driving for two weeks. It is our goal to give you back a flatter, tighter abdominal profile.
Fleur-de-Lis Tummy Tuck
A fleur-de-lis abdominoplasty is a procedure to remove excess skin from the abdominal area and tighten the abdominal muscles by making a T-shaped vertical and horizontal incision in the center of the abdomen, in a fleur-de-lis shape. This procedure is recommended for patients that have more than expected excess skin in the front of the body, usually seen after gastric bypass surgery due to massive weight loss.

We've all heard about Liposuction, a great way to improve body shape by removing those pesky areas of fat that a regular exercise routine may not. Liposuction has been a great solution for removing fat cells on bodies of both men and women. Liposuction can reduce unwanted fat in areas such as the hips, buttocks, thighs, abdomen, knees, arms, "love handles," calves, ankles, under the neck and the chin.
Liposuction, or body contouring, is for the individual who is not obese, but of relatively normal weight with good skin elasticity. Liposuction works best on localized areas of fat (bulges) that don't seem to fit the rest of your body.
Liposuction may be performed using the tumescent technique, in which targeted fat cells are infused with a saline continuing solution with a local anesthetic and blood vessel constrictor, before liposuction to reduce post-operative pain, bruising and swelling.
To remove larger columns of fat, or fat from fibrous areas, ultrasound assisted lipectomy (UAL) may be used. UAL technique uses an ultrasound probe, which is inserted beneath the skin to liquify the fat before it is suctioned. This produces a smoother and more evenly contoured liposuction result.
The incisions made are two to three millimeters in length. Most patients usually experience post-operative bruising along with mild discomfort. You will need to wear a specially ordered compression garmet for approximately four to six weeks. Activities will also need to be limited for this same amount of time. The full healing process takes from six to eight months. You will continue to see improvement and size reduction during this recovery period.
If expectations are set realistically, liposuction can be an excellent alternative to remove exercise resistant fat deposits in a safe efficient way with minimal downtime. Dr. Simmonds will go over your health history and any medical conditions you may have. As with any surgery, risks and benefits will be discussed.
Following Dr. Simmonds' instructions, before and after surgery, minimizes these risks. Some instructions include stop smoking tobacco, avoiding certain medications, and arranging to have help following your surgery. It is our goal to make you happy with your results and for you to feel a new sense of self confidence with your new body image.
Brachioplasty - Upper Arm Lifts
If the excess skin on your upper arms keeps you from wearing your favorite clothes, consider an arm lift to restore the youthful contour to your arm. This procedure is ideal for those patients that have recently lost a great deal of weight and have sagging arm skin or due to the natural aging process, have lost skin elasticity.
Brachioplasty, or upper arm lift, is a procedure that removes excess skin to tighten and tone the appearance of your upper arm. The incision are made on the under side of the arms. The location and length of the incisions will vary depending on the amount of skin needed to be removed, and will be determined at the time of your evaluation with Dr. Simmonds. The incision may be small and conceal in the armpit or extend from the armpit to the elbow to remove the maximum amount of skin.
For those patients that have an excess of fat on the arms, it may benefit to combine this procedure along with liposuction for the best results. The procedure is performed at an outpatient surgical facility. The arms will be bandaged and pain medication given to ease your discomfort in the first few days of surgery.
As with any surgery, Dr. Simmonds will review the risks and benefits of the procedure. Carefully following Dr. Simmonds, before and after instructions, will help you get the best result possible.
